ECJ Ruling C-128/11
The resale of used software licenses is fully legal within the European Union under the exhaustion of rights principle.
This was established by the landmark European Court of Justice ruling C-128/11 (UsedSoft GmbH v. Oracle International Corp., 2012).
Once a software license has been sold by the rights holder, the copyright is "exhausted" and the buyer is free to resell it. All our Microsoft products strictly comply with this ruling and EU consumer protection law.
